Handmade Lagoon Blue Stoneware Teapot | Wheel-Thrown Ceramic Teapot
This handmade ceramic teapot was thrown on the potter’s wheel and finished in a lagoon blue glaze that features a mottled surface that is lighter where thick, and has orange speckles. The glaze stops short of the foot, leaving the speckled stoneware bare. It shows the clay the pot was made from and warms in your hand as the tea steeps.
Every part was made by hand. The body has a full, rounded belly that gives loose leaf tea room to unfurl. The spout was shaped for a clean pour, and the handle was pulled to sit comfortably in your grip. The lid is topped with a turned knob and seats snugly in its gallery, so it stays put while you pour. The throwing rings are left visible, the marks of a pot made on the wheel rather than in a factory.
Because it’s handmade, no two teapots are alike. Glaze movement, drips, and color variation are part of each one’s character. The teapot in the photos is the exact one you’ll receive.
It’s made for everyday use, whether that’s a morning pot of green tea, an afternoon oolong, or sharing a pot with someone across the table. It also makes a meaningful gift for a tea lover or anyone who collects handmade pottery.
